Why Dither?ĭither is low-level noise added to the audio signal in an effort to keep the level of the audio from dropping below the least significant bit. We’ll be using the Fruity Squeeze effect in FL Studio and the free mda Dither, which is available from Smartelectronix, but any similar plugins should work in the same way. On the other hand, Dither can help fine-tune the bitcrushing effect to get exactly the sound you want. This a great way to add some Lo-Fi crunchiness to your tracks, although it can be difficult to control. Bit Crushing reduces the sample rate and bit depth of your audio signal, emulating the low fidelity of an early digital audio system. In FL Studio, there are two tools that can quickly put us in the retro digital mood.
